Editorial Policy & Corrections

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Sangeet Jagat aims to be a trustworthy source of knowledge about Indian music. These are the standards we follow.

Authors and review

  • Every article shows its author. Author pages show their credentials and areas of expertise, with the author’s consent.
  • New authors start as contributors: their articles are reviewed and approved by an editor before publication.
  • Editors check articles for clarity, structure, sources, language and fairness. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy and originality of their work.

Sources and originality

  • Articles must be original. Quotations must be short, marked and credited; facts should be supported by references to books, treatises, recordings, interviews or reliable publications.
  • We do not knowingly publish copied, plagiarised or misleading material.

Health and yoga content

  • Health and yoga articles are general information and carry a health notice. They are not medical advice.
  • Articles that give specific medical, dietary or remedy advice should be written or reviewed by a qualified professional and cite sources. Older articles that do not yet meet this standard are being reviewed and may be revised.

Use of AI tools

Authors and editors may use software tools, including AI tools, for tasks such as checking grammar, formatting or translation drafts. A named human author is responsible for every article, and every article is reviewed by a person before publication. We do not publish articles generated by AI without substantial human authorship and review.

Independence and advertising

Editorial decisions are made by our editors. Advertisers and sponsors do not decide what we publish. Advertisements and sponsored content are clearly labelled and kept separate from articles. Authors must tell the editors about any conflict of interest related to an article.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, write to sangeetjagat.bsk@gmail.com with the article link and the correction, ideally with a source. We review every request. Significant corrections are made in the article and noted with the date of the update.
